Kington Medical Centre | Herefordshire
The site for a new medical centre on the outskirts of Kington presented very exciting opportunities for some innovative landscape design.
DSA helped secure planning permission for a development on a greenfield site through a Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment.
The Head Brook, a tributary of the River Arrow, forms the southern boundary of the site. This required a very sensitive approach to how surface water was dealt with to prevent pollution. The SuDS solution incorporates permeable paving and a system of open swales and basins, filtering and infiltrating water before discharging it into the brook.
Ecological mitigation included wildflower meadows and even an artificial otter holt.
DSA have written a Landscape Management Plan for the site.
